Operating systems:

Software package beos5pe.exe BEOS 5 Personal Edition, an operating system originally developed for the PowerPC, now available on Intel platforms as well. This version installs under Windows (it takes up 500M of disk space for the system partition, so make sure you have enough space available) and puts an icon on your desktop to reboot into BEOS. You can also create a boot floppy to boot BEOS directly. It includes sample applications for multimedia, networking and development. It's everything that Windows should have been, but isn't...

Command line shells:

Software package 4dos700.exe 4DOS 7.00, a powerful shareware replacement for the standard DOS command interpreter (COMMAND.COM) which works with Windows 95/98/ME. You can use it with NT/2000 as well, but you should really use 4NT instead (a version specifically designed for use with NT/2000). It's completely compatible with COMMAND.COM but with loads of extra features: new commands, new options for existing commands, powerful batch file utilities, command line editing (including automatic filename completion), pop-up help, and more. It's so good it has a mainstream Usenet newsgroup for its fans (comp.os.msdos.4dos). Indispensible if you ever use a command prompt.
